Continuing our summer of folk tunes into fall....

What is folk life? The traditional songs we sing, listen and dance to...fairy tales, stories, personal histories, childhood games, the way we celebrate life, our personal beliefs, our handed down recipes and traditions, the way we decorate our world, the things we create by hand, work, creative ways we express ourselves. Folk life is part of everyone's life whether past or present. It is as constant as a ballad, as changeable as fashion trends, as intimate as a lullaby and as public as a parade. In the end, we are all just folks telling our own stories. So students, gear up! I want to hear some good folk tunes about YOU! Start thinking! We'll soon start writing!

IT'S PIANO TIME!!!!

Summer is nearly over....kids go back to school  this week...and our piano school year begins after Labor Day on September 4th. This year marks my 32nd year of  teaching children to make music! It's exciting and humbling to think this has been my good fortune for many years. Over the summer, music notes have been floating through the air in Lake Villa! Thank you for welcoming me into your town just a little over a year ago! I love piano and what's more important, my students are learning to love it too! I'm looking forward to a second year of fun and progress with some amazing young artists!

Summer has been extra busy around here in addition to teaching. While my husband has re-cooperated from his knee replacements, I've enjoyed a summer of writing while he's been resting. I'll be making an exciting announcement very soon. Stay tuned!
